It is with regret That we announce that, despite a year of hard work from our small band of volunteers and seven versions of Risk assessments, the Torchlight Procession 2026 will NOT be going ahead.
We always leave the decision as late as possible, as conditions constantly change, but our professional colleagues have now advised that the event should NOT go ahead, due to this years extreme weather conditions. We sincerely apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused to everyone who was looking forward to attending.
Furthermore, we would like to thank our attendees, performers, staff, sponsors, suppliers and everyone else who has supported the event. Besides being such a popular annual event, the Torchlight raises the funds to enable the Carnival to happen (security, 1st aid, prizes etc all add up) So we would ask locals to offer help to collect money from the spectators (it can be a stationary role) and we would ask spectators to support this community carnival by digging deep to fill the collection buckets, if you want the events to happen next year!
All our other events will still be happening ;
Tuesday–7.30 the Quiz at the Ropemakers
Wednesday–6.30 Bingo at The Beehive Football Club
Friday–7.30 Darts at The Beehive Football Club
Saturday – Golf at The Bridport & West Bay Golf Club
– 5.30 Bridport Broadsides Shanty Crew
– 6.45 Carnival Procession (Motorcycles first), then Live Music (Static Flight)
Sunday–12.45 Crabbing Competition
Enjoy, and thanks for your support & understanding!
